BIOGRAPHY
Caro Clarke is a London based Sculptor exploring colour, light & structure through paper and metal. Her work reflects on existence, often drawing inspiration from patterns in nature and meteorology as well as architecture and urban living.

Born in Paris (1976), initially receiving a IBD in Fine Art and Art History in Brussels, she has a BFA from SCAD in graphic design & photography, followed by a certificate in interactive art installation from The Hoxton Institute.

Using paper as a prototyping medium, Caro explore structures and patterns that she is inspired by on a daily basis through walks and discovery about nature and its happenance. She researches and explores how far she can go with paper making, screenprinting, different types of inks and how these different approaches affects the paper and of course the final outcome.

Caro’s multicultural background has drawn her to use vibrant colours. Fluorescent colours are the most natural colours on earth and they occur in so many places in nature. This really excites and inspires her.

Caro works fulltime from her studio in East London most days when it comes to smaller pieces.

She is also currently doing an ongoing residency and apprenticeship with Sculptor Julian Wild at their school Cement Art in Newhaven, where she is developing welding skills using stainless steel and other more robust materials.
Her aim is to start producing my pieces on a larger scale in order to leave a more lasting legacy.
“My work is about light, patterns & perception.
I love creating work that makes you pause in your steps. Activate people's imagination. And ultimately ask the question: how was this done? And with what?
I also just want to spread some love, joy and colour in the world. If you walk away from my art with a smile then I have done something right."
Caro is a regular on the London exhibition scene and her work can be found in various private collections and institutions worldwide as well as a number of galleries in the UK and selling at international art fairs.

She was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2023, has exhibited at The London Design Museum, the Wellcome Collection, recently had her latest solo show in Greenwich in 2025, and ING Discerning Eye 2025 at the Mall Galleries.

“Paper is a natural material that speaks to me in ways no other creative medium ever has. I feel honoured combining my ideas with such a powerful entity. With my work, I am trying to express something about the contradiction between the natural organic world, and the more structured urban scenes I have always found myself attracted to...”
